Greetings from The Peddler’s Cart ! We have redesigned and updated our site and hope you are pleased with our new appearance. The images you see are from our current line of miniature watercolor prints and to check them out more closely, visit our Print Shop.
Our business, The Peddler’s Cart, is small and run by us, “us” being Joan and Rod Cart. We live in the mid-coast town of Phippsburg, which, although being considered a “small town”, is actually a large peninsula stretching south from Bath. It is bordered on 3 sides by water…two rivers, the Kennebec and the New Meadows, and the Atlantic with it’s long beach areas.
We are both watercolor artists and much of our work consists of familiar coastal scenes of Maine…lighthouses such as Pemaquid Point and Portland Head, lobster boats and wharves, sailing vessels, beaches such as Popham and Reid State Park, and the ocean in all seasons. We also paint inland views of fields and lakes with flowers and cows and moose and loons.
Since we have always enjoyed travel, we have many favorite spots on earth, especially Mexico and Ireland. Both these locations appear in selected work separate from our Maine images.
All of Joan’s work is in miniature, the original paintings ranging from 2 1/4 ” X 2 3/4″ to 3″ x 5″, and the prints reproduce these sizes exactly. Rod paints many of the miniatures, but also has work much larger, in watercolor and acrylics, many of which are commissioned works.
Prints of the miniatures are sold for just $10.00 retail, in mats that fit standard 5×7 frames. These are available in our Print Shop. While they are available, the originals are sold in custom frames also measuring 5×7″. Rod’s larger work is available in various sizes as framed originals and some prints.
Please contact the artist at artist@gwi.net for more information.
All our prints are giclee, of the highest quality, created in our own studio.
