Greetings from The Peddler's Cart. We are glad to have you on board. These pages showcase some of our past and present work. To see our most current prints visit our Print Shop.
The Peddler's Cart is a small business run by Joan and Rod Cart of Phippsburg, Maine, a scenic mid-coast Maine township, just south of Bath. Phippsburg takes up a whole peninsula, bordered by the Kennebec River on one side and the New Meadows River on the other.
We are both watercolor artists and much of our work consists of familiar scenes of the rocky coast, lighthouses, such as Pemaquid Point and Portland Head, lobster boats, sailing vessels, beaches, (Popham and Reid State parks are two of our favorites) and almost anything else dealing with the ocean in all seasons and weather.
We also paint the interior of New England: fields of flowers, barns, belted cows, and many of Maine's lakes with loons and moose.
During the winter seasons we are often traveling to our favorite countries away from home, Mexico and Ireland. And needless to say our paints are always with us, so you never know what scenes will show up here.
All of Joan's work are miniatures, the original paintings ranging from just 2 ¼ x 2 ¾ inches to 5 x 3 inches. Rod paints in these same sizes but also has much work larger in watercolor, acrylics and oils.
Prints of the miniatures are sold for just $10 in mats that fit standard 5 x 7 inch frames. These are available in our PrintShop. While they are available, the originals are sold in custom frames, also 5 x 7 inches. Rod's larger work is available as framed originals in various sizes and also sold as prints suitable for 6 x 12 inch frames. Please contact the artists at artist@gwi.net .
All of our prints are giclée, of the highest quality, created in our own studio.
